With the support of Tsogo Sun and Kfm, Lynne Cumings spearheaded an initiative that brought Mother’s Day joy to over 6500 moms in Cape Town on Sunday. Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged residents, and others in homes around Cape Town and within the townships, were treated to a celebratory tea with beautifully produced cakes and cupcakes.

Capetonians have embraced the campaign that Lynne started in 2011 in memory of her mother. From individuals to major retailers and even Mayor Patricia de Lille, their baking efforts honoured both their own mothers and those who would otherwise not have been acknowledged on this special day.

Tsogo Sun’s chefs from their Southern Sun Waterfront, Southern Sun The Cullinan, Southern Sun Newlands and Southern Sun Cape Sun hotels joined forces to bake delicious cakes for 2000 senior citizens. The GM of the Southern Sun Waterfront, Jeff Rosenberg, commented, “Our team was delighted to play a role in making this day special for as many moms as possible. We look forward to supporting this wonderful initiative again next year”.
